Black Forest Cake

  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pitted dark cherries, drained
  • 1 package (about 15 ounces) German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 can (12 ounces) cherry cola (regular or diet)
  • ice cream or whipped cream and chocolate sauce (optional)


  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees F. Spray 13X9 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray
  2. Spread cherry pie filling and cherries in bottom of pan.  Top with dry cake mix, carefully spreading over cherries with fork. Do not mix.  Slowly pour soda over cake mix covering as much as possible.  Do not mix.
  3. Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes.  Remove foil; bake additional 30 to 40 minutes or until cake is set.  Cool 15 minutes.  Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream and chocolate sauce, if desired.
