Bowtie Pasta with Tuna


Serves 4-6


  • Three 6-ounce cans tuna packed in oil
  • 1 pound farfalle (bowtie) pasta
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 8 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 3 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped


  1. Drain tuna and discard oil. Boil pasta in water with 3 teaspoons salt.
  2. While pasta is cooking, in a large pan heat 4 tablespoons oil and sauté onion and tuna for 3 minutes over medium heat.
  3. Add remaining salt, red pepper flakes, and 1 tablespoon parsley.
  4. Add wine and cook for 1 minute, stirring gently.
  5. Add tomatoes and cook for 3 minutes.
  6. Drain pasta well, then add it to the pan and mix well.
  7. Stir in the remaining oil and parsley.
