Indian‎ Inspired Shrimp Cocktail With Tomato Chutney

  • 1 15oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Harissa (or red chilli paste)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked sea salt(or regular sea salt)
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger


  1. Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan and whisk til all ingredients are blended‎. Bring mixture to a boil, stir, then reduce heat to low, cover pan and simmer for 45 mins. Remove from heat, allow to cool then refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. To serve, put the chutney in a medium bowl/ cocktail glass and surround with steamed shrimp, tail-side out looped over the edge of the the glass.
